Your shower description brought back memories of bathing in an ice cold stream in the Snowy Mountains of Wyoming while camping as a teenager. My parents and I were in our pickup truck camper, my brother and his wife on an inflatable mattress in the back of their pickup truck. We never used the shower in any of the RVs my dad owned over the years because my mom hated the thought of having to dry out a wet bath, hence my river bath. The trip was epic, the bath frigid! Best of luck getting Walter going again.
Haha! I love that you HAD a wet bath but weren't allowed to use it because it would be a hassle. On a positive note, I think everyone should have at least MEMORIES of bathing outside in the cold. Builds character, right?
Oh, serious character builder! 😄 And still a very vivid memory more than 30 years later. We use the wet bath in our current camper van all the time. Keeps us clean, and we use it as an opportunity to clean the bathroom, too!
Hi Sherry and Andy! Just want you to know I read your sub stack every week. Sooo sorry about your current engine troubles! Praying you get it solved soon!
Matt and I are fine. Amy, Dustin and Ben are fine. Our grandson Wyatt was baptized on Father’s Day,and is going on the Slovakia mission trip on Friday with Shannon De Vito. We are so excited for him!
Our granddaughter Avonlea is currently in a drug/ alcohol rehab in Chicago, but gets out July 9th. We are hopeful that she is coming home with better tools to cope with her world. We can’t wait to hug her!
Thanks for the update, Cindy! I'm so glad you have relationships with your kids and grandkids. And I'm so happy to hear both of them are moving forward with positive steps toward a bright future. 😊 Thanks for asking about my kids. 💜 We get to fly back to the Lower 48 to see them in a couple of weeks! I'm so excited to wrap my arms around them both! Thank you for being here with me, friend.
Keep up the good writing, Sherry! You are so creative and entertaining! May God bless you and give you peace every single day of your adventurous life! Numbers 6:24-26
Thanks, Allison. I so appreciate your support and friendship. And thank you for the blessing. It washed over me this morning like a healing balm. 💜 I am so excited for you and Tim's new venture and enjoy reading the updates.
Sherry, I'm a mostly silent reader. Been following for a few months. Thanks for your testimony, your stories about the road and your human connections. I also appreciate when you share your insights about what this means to you and your husband. The daily grind of living on the road, travel and all the small details that make up managing portable living space are also of interest.
Thanks for offering long posts full of details. This is good stuff for a "want-to-be" nomad but one that is still putting in time in the office.
Matt! Thank you for such valuable feedback! I am happy to know which boxes are being checked for you. Such an encouragement! I'm glad to have you here. Forgive my forgetfulness, but have we met in person? We meet a LOT of people and it's hard to keep everyone straight. If not, we should. Sounds like you have big hopes and dreams, and we'd love to be an encouragement to you in any way we can. 😊
No, we haven't met, but that would be great fun! I also follow the Midlife Nomad substack and noted your related postings. Other people's stories are powerful; they provide insight into the vastness of possibility. They provoke curiosity and encouragement to dream and plan. Thanks for sharing your personal story.
I so agree about other people's stories providing powerful insight. That's why we enjoy meeting people all over the world--so we can hear their stories. We should totally make a meet-up happen someday.
Hi Sherry! I love your story here Sherry and it is the dream of 99% of the people who are honestI I sent your link to my daughter in Montreal! She is 49 and determined to travel Scotland with me in 2025! (for a month:) I have travelled and spent 20 plus years in other countries full-time (warm ones-although I love hockey and still play 3 times a week at 72)
and am writing a book about different lifestyles and I am thinking to start my sub-stack about that!! I am impressed by the simplicity of your concept (love Walter:) but how well and professionally you create and write! I awm winding down my permanent residence and thinking to do a tour but on a motorcycle!! Oh, I just subscribed but it took a year but I will adjust from my end to monthly!
Fraser! So glad you are here, and THANK YOU for your support of Walter and us. 💜 I do hope you and your daughter get to make that Scotland trip. I will be anxious to hear about it. I've always wanted to go to Scotland, and what a joy to do it as a father-daughter trip. And a big motorcycle trip sounds incredible. We've met some fascinating folks on the road who are traveling by motorcycle. Their courage and resiliency inspires me every time. All out best to you. Have we met yet? If not, I hope someday we will. 😊

Ah, glad you use yours now. And yes, with all that water on the floor and everywhere else, you may as well wipe everything down. Perfect.
Reading along and cheering you on. 👏🏽
Thanks, Mel. I appreciate you. <3
Brave of you to shower outdoors even if it is in the middle of nowhere.
Heehee 😎It does feel a little rebellious.

How are your two kiddos doing?
Much love to the two of you. Cindy
