I enjoyed listening to this. Thanks for sharing your heart. I'm sorry some friends turned away. That hurts. I watched reruns of LHOYP. You can't beat the Ingalls family.

My favorite out of all the shows was and still is MASH! Watch the reruns whenever they pop up! I really enjoy reading/ listening about your adventures . Like you said life is messy and things change sometimes faster than we are ready for. People you thought were friends walk away when life changes and they don't understand. But I've found Jesus to be the one constant in my life, always there during the struggle to pick me up /hold me or carry me once again when I had failed or others had failed me. ♥️

Thanks, Lynne. Yes, life does get messy, doesn't it?

"When I had failed or others had failed me." Both happen all too often. But we are only human. So glad we have someone who's not!

MASH was/is the best. Agreed!

What about the Bionic Woman? I would dream of being strong like her. :)

I just want to encourage you in your journey as you seek the truth. It is difficult to sort out the things we learn in life, especially as kids, and figure out which things are absolute truth and which things people proclaimed true but actually weren't. You are a believer and you will find peace again, the peace that only Jesus provides (John 14:27). Don't feel bad for questioning and doubting. You are right that pure Christianity (as opposed to how we humans distort it) can stand up to any questions you have. And, I agree that you will come out stronger as you delve deeper into spiritual truth. I'm praying for you and I'm walking with you on this truth-seeking journey.

Thank you for this boost of encouragement, Allison! I am so glad to have you as a friend. And to think--we might have never met, if your in-laws hadn't taken some nervous church visitors out for Mexican food one Sunday in 1982!

And yes, the Bionic Woman, too! I was hoping someone would mention her. Unfortunately, the intro clip for her on YouTube was not nearly as memorable. Convenient that she also lost both legs and one arm, just like her male counterpart, but instead of one bionic eye, she got one bionic ear. What a team they would make! Glancing through lists of popular 70s TV shows, in preparing for this post, I was shocked at how few of them had female protagonists. And unfortunately, most of those that did felt they had to rely on sex appeal to get viewers. I don't think I was even allowed to watch Wonder Woman or Charlie's Angels or Isis--probably because of the skimpy outfits and cleavage. Of course, I wasn't allowed to watch MASH, either, but that didn't stop me. (See my response to Cindy's comment)

Goodness transitions can be hard. Looks like you two just about have it figured out.

I never watched the first 5 shows or White Shadow. Of The 4 remaining it's probably Mash. I was going thru my own transitions in that time frame and tv didn't figure in too much. I love Mash now 😋

I had to sneak MASH, as it came on past my bedtime. I would lay in the hallway outside my bedroom, with just the top half of my head poking around the corner so I could see the TV my parents were watching in the living room. I still love that show. Incidentally, I had an uncle who was killed in action in Korea. He actually spent time, for a previous injury, in the actual MASH unit that the TV show was modeled after.

And no, we don't have any of this figured out yet, friend. We are just doing the best we can with what we have, still stumbling our way through. 💜

I was raised with no tv, but sure took advantage of watching it at friends houses! A favorite was Dukes of Hazard. I love your thoughts on deconstructing in our personal lives. It has to be done, it's sometimes the hard dirty work, but ends up being beautiful.

I did love 'them Dukes', too. I think my first TV crushes were Luke Duke (Bo was too much of a pretty boy for my taste) and Jon Baker from CHiPs. I wanted to go for a ride in Jon's pickup truck!

It is hard dirty work, this deconstruction and reconstruction, but you're right--it can end up being beautiful. 💜
