I love your adventure stories. In 2021, my husband and I sold the dream house we had built. Honestly, when we built it, we were not sure how long we would stay. It was a little of a gamble. We had moved back to this small Arkansas town from the suburbs of Houston. My husband’s company headquarters were located in this little town. We had lived there previously and our two older boys had graduated high school from there, so we thought—If we build it, they will come. 😊. They still had good friends there they kept in contact but my boys were living in other states. Then my husband decided to retire and we just could not adjust living back in this small town. SO, we sold our house with plans of maybe moving back to Houston area putting our belongings in storage. The plan was to travel for four months, hang out with our son in the Pacific Northwest, then hang out in New Orleans area for a couple of years with our older son helping them plan a wedding, then decide where we would make permanent residence. Those months of being nomads and traveling and seeing the USA were some of the best times ever. Your adventures bring back fond memories

Stepping outside the boxes our society says are normal is so freeing, isn't it? So glad you got that time to be free. It really does change one's whole perspective. 💜

I used to transcribe books for the blind. And just fyi, I think you would make a perfect clown!

Cool job! Did you transcribe them into Braille? My cousin, who is blind, taught me to use his Braille typewriter, back when we were teenagers. I thought it was so cool!

And yes, I was a total and complete clown. Still am in some ways. 😂

It’s my pugs job to provide for himself as much emotional support as he can possibly get. He demands to be coddled.😂

Having swapped basic roles when I became employed full time and my husband retired, I have sympathy for your adjustment. Ours had a far shorter checklist of "who nows?" (i.e. Why am I still in charge of the laundry folding? Who cooks/preps/makes the morning smoothie/pays bills...etc) but I can feel for y'all . It has certiainly developed compassion and appreciation for what the "other" used to live with/do before the switch. Good for us all around.

Also, I was surprised and embarrassingly delighted at being mentioned in this week's substack. This has been an exciting, stretching new adventure to live this new role. So glad God put me in this position to let me be part of His mission in this way.

Yes, you guys get it. When everything suddenly changes, there is quite a bit of adjusting to do. And your situation is so much more complicated. So much change. Much love to you both. 💜

I look forward to each episode. I find myself trying to imagine what your day is like. No longing to undertake such an adventure but with true curiosity that someone would. I love going on road trips and exploring territory I’ve not seen before but, oh, how I love to arrive back home after a week or two.

Isn't it so cool that other people have different desires and dreams and lives than our own? I absolutely believe there is something to be learned from everyone me meet--physically or virtually--and everyone's life is worth pondering. Glad you're here, Diana.
